Using Wireless Tablets to Control Diabetes in the Deep South

Mississippi has one of the highest rates of diabetes in the U.S. To help manage this deadly disease, the State of Mississippi helped fund the Diabetes Health Network, which has patients record their health information on electronic tablets and beam the information back the Center for Telehealth where it can be monitored by a physician.

With chronic disease on the rise, U.S. health care costs skyrocketing and the old model of medicine failing to provided solutions, many are calling for a 'patient-centered' approach to health care.
